One was also addicted at birth to cocaine,heroine, and methadone. Fast forwarding through thetrials and tribulations of adoption and rearing, bothchildren now test negative to the AIDS antibodies. Because of the many difficulties and barriers theyencountered in their adoption they formed the Childrenwith AIDS Project of America to recruit families toprovide loving, caring, permanent homes for theseabandoned infants. Jim's efforts have led to his being named to the faculty ofU.C. Berkeley, a private meeting at the White Housewith Hilliary Clinton, a meeting with then U.S. SurgeonGeneral, C. Everett Koop,and many stops in between.Jim has also made hundreds of presentations to groupsranging in size from as few at 3 to as many as 7,500 people. Jim has now expanded his efforts to include findinghomes for AIDS orphans. He has also expandedglobally to creating programs and seeking fundingto provide medical, financial, and other means ofsupport to the extraordinary number of orphanedHIV infected children from areas in the world likeAfrica, Mexico, South America and Romania.
