Three weeks ago the Soiree settled into
it's new home at Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar and the
response from our group has been 100% favorable. Tapino's
up-scale ambiance, fine food, and affordable pricing has met with overwhelming
approval from our group.
Recognizing Tapino's popularity I thought you
might like to know the story behind Tapino's.
The seeds of Tapino's was born some twelve
years ago when James Porter and his friend Bill Fiduccia thought that one day
they would like to own their own restaurant and bar.
Over the next 12 years James pursued his career as a Chef while Bill pursued
his career as a business man.
James received his formal training at Scottsdale Culinary Institute and was
part of the famed Greenbrier Culinary Apprenticeship Program. James honed his
skill at many highly regarded 4-Star & 5-Star resorts and independent
restaurants throughout the U.S. and Caribbean including our very own Arizona
Biltmore Resort and Spa as Chef de Cuisine. James belongs to the American
Culinary Federation, the National Restaurant Association, and the Arizona
Restaurant & Hospitality Association.
Twelve years later, sensing their timing was right, James and Bill went
restaurant shopping! Their initial decision was to purchase an existing
restaurant and then move in and make it their own. Drawing on the strengths of
each, James would serve as Chef and General Kitchen Operations Manager and Bill
would be in charge of Marketing and everything else outside of the kitchen.
As luck would have it Maria's When In Naples, a long time successful Italian
Restaurant, became available when Maria decided it was time for her to retire.
Purchasing Maria's in February 2004 they closed Maria's over the summer for
redesign and to go about "making it their own". Tapino Kitchen &
Wine Bar opened for business in late August 2004.
Tapino's is a unique name for a unique
restaurant. It is a combination of the words "Tapa", which is Spanish for small
plates, and "Vino"- which I hope I don't have to define for you!
Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar is an eclectic collection of
many influences encompassing Mediterranean, Asian, North American and South
American cultures. Sort of a new American Cuisine with a little Picasso thrown
in!
James and Bill are striving to make Tapino's your
fine dining experience and to that end they listen--to you! They actively seek
your feed back both good and bad for they are striving to earn your continuing
patronage.
It is with great pleasure that Mr. James Porter, Chef and
Owner of Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar, will be my
Special Guest.
Please plan on joining us to socialize
and meet new friends.
