David Ross is an incredibly gifted architect who has had the privilege
of working on many fine historic homes and buildings and new design
and construction. David founded his architectural company, Ross
Design Group, in 1983 and works in the areas of residential design
and remodel, as well as restaurant design with some emphasis on
resort/spa and small commercial.
David has been involved in architectural design and construction
23 years. His experience includes working with Gosnell Development's
architectural design team in creating all three of the Five Star Pointe
Resorts. Later David was named job captain for the Renovation of
the Wrigley Mansion. This work was historic in nature and included
adding a new entryway, meeting rooms, an event terrace facing west,
and converting what used to be the driveway and 6 car garage. This
project won the American Institute of Architects Historic Adaptive
Reuse Award in 1982!
During the mid 1980’s David became involved in numerous Historic
Renovations in the Roosevelt Neighborhood in Downtown Phoenix.
Law offices for the Honorable Sam Goddard and his son Terry were
amongst the project list. Another project fully renovated the interior and
exterior of an 1899 Queen Anne Victorian House, for Attorney Michael
Valder. During these renovations David became involved in designing
an addition to Sam Goddards home on the Southwest face of Camelback
Mountain. From 1985 to present Residential Projects have been a strong
part of David’s Portfolio.
When Phoenix entered a recession in 1986, David took the opportunity
to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area. Here David expanded his
project experience into High-rise, Healthcare, Corporate Interiors,
Commercial Office and always Residential. One of David's projects
included winning a design competition to renovate an historic 20 story
high-rise on Market Streeet for Equitable Insurance Company. Life
was very good from 1987 – 1993 and he even had even begun a graduate
degree at Cal Berkeley. However, commuting from Marin County took
it’s toll, coupled with a major recession, and David returned to the
Phoenix
Metro Area and finished up at ASU. Soon, thereafter, he began design
work on a new home in Paradise Valley which he built for the owner
in 1994-1995. This began a new area of expertise: construction
management on behalf of an owners request.
During the past seven years David has worked on many Residential
Projects including new and remodels. Additionally he has worked on
a number of commercial building projects. Over the last few years
Residential and Restaurant work have become his primary focus, with
some emphasis on resort/spa and small commercial. The design and
construction of Zinc Bistro, located at Kierland Commons, is one of
his most recently completed projects.
David has been an active supporter of the Soiree since April of
2001 and has made many friends and business contacts through the
Soiree. So it is with great pleasure that our good friend David Ross,
President of Ross Design Group, will be my Special Guest.
Please plan on joining us to socialize and meet new friends!
